Addiction is a long, hard road to travel both for the individual struggling to recover, and for their loved ones, especially during the holiday season when the pressures of the holidays often stem from the desire for things to be “perfect” – the way things “should be” this time of year. But a major trigger for pain in the holiday season is dealing with a family member’s addiction. And for those struggling with the addiction, the never ending cycle of guilt and shame they may experience can be overwhelming. Join Dr. Sutherland and her guests J.J. Widener – Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor, and Conrad Valcy – Master Addictions Counselor as they discuss these issues, and provide helpful perspective and resources.
