In the wake of yesterday’s school shooting in Parkland, Florida, we once again come back to the questions – Why is there so much violence in our schools? In our communities? In children? Join Dr. Sutherland and guests Katrina Wilson and Dr. Renee Glass-Dixon of Rockdale County School System as they discuss school, mental health and family issues related to ameliorating violence in schools. Parents will also receive tips on recognizing acute stress responses in your child as a result of direct or secondary exposure to traumas such as the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. This information on Acute Stress Disorder will be helpful for parents living in Parkland, Florida, as well as parents across the country whose children have been exposed through TV or Internet.
